Melissa L. Stappler

Melissa L. Stappler was called to the Alberta Bar in 2004, after attaining her Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Alberta in 2003. Prior to attending law school, Melissa graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree (with distinction, English major) from the University of Lethbridge in 2000.
Before she joined Willis Law, Melissa dedicated the majority of her practice to representing Indigenous clients pursuing claims for damages suffered while at church- and government-run Indian residential schools. In her role as advocate, Melissa worked collaboratively and effectively with adjudicators and government representatives in a quasi-judicial process to achieve fair and reconciliatory resolutions for individuals who suffered childhood physical and sexual abuse.
Melissa’s specialty is breaking down complex condominium law issues into plain language. She particularly enjoys assisting condominium clients navigate through the tricky areas of insurance and financing. Melissa has also completed her Arbitrator training and has been awarded the Q.Arb designation by the ADR Institute of Canada.
